Texas: Chamber To Endorse Olson

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce will formerly endorse Texas’ 22nd district GOP nominee Pete Olson at an event Thursday in Sugar Land.

Olson, a former Senate aide, is running against Rep. Nick Lampson, among the most targeted Democratic House incumbents of this cycle. Lampson is serving his first term in the solidly conservative, suburban Houston 22nd district, although he previously served in the Democratic-leaning 9th district.

A spokeswoman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee brushed off the chamber endorsement, criticized Olson and said voters in the district won’t be fooled because they know Lampson’s record.

“Pete Olson is out of touch with the hard economic times that middle-class Texas families and small businesses are facing, which is why he supports an additional 23 percent tax on everything people buy, even gas and medicine,” DCCC spokeswoman Kyra Jennings said.
