Pelosi: ‘Obama Is Right, McCain Is Wrong’

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) tonight urged Democrats to get to behind her party’s presidential nominee, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), for the change that America needs.

“[Obama has] a vision that is new and bold and calls for the best in the American people,” she said.

Speaking to an electrified crowd cheering “Nancy” and waving American flags at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Pelosi lavished praise on the Democratic nominee.

“Today Barack Obama is the patriot that sees beyond the years,” Pelosi said. Pelosi rallied those present, uniting the hall with a chant: “Barack Obama is right and John McCain is wrong.”

She also acknowledged former presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), but has made it clear her supporters now need to get behind Obama.

“All Democrats salute Hillary Clinton for her excellent campaign,” she said. “Our party and our country has been strengthened by her candidacy.”
