Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) was unable to reach an agreement with Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) late Wednesday to free a score of bills that are being blocked by Coburn, according to a top Democratic aide.

Reid filed a cloture petition to move toward debate on the package of bills, known around the Senate as the “Coburn Omnibus,” after the Majority Leader and Coburn met for about 30 minutes in Reid’s office.

The aide said Reid and Coburn plan to meet again Thursday to further discuss the bill.

Coburn emerged from the meeting and immediately dashed toward Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) office to report on his talk with Reid. He declined to speak with reporters.
