Nation: Realtors PAC Running Ads for 3 Incumbents

The National Association of Realtors Political Action Committee has dropped big bucks this week for independent expenditures on behalf of three veteran but vulnerable House Members, according to online finance reports.

The group has spent $506,500 on behalf of Rep. Christopher Shays (R-Conn.), who faces Greenwich Town Committeeman Jim Himes (D) in a competitive race. The expenditure also included $208,800 for a television buy in the state’s 4th district.

Rep. Joe Knollenberg (R-Mich.), running against former state Lottery Commissioner Gary Peters (D) in another targeted race, was boosted by a $534,600 expenditure by the Realtors PAC. That amount included a recent $231,300 television buy for the market that takes in Michigan’s 9th district.

And in Pennsylvania’s 11th district, the PAC has dropped $272,700 in favor of Rep. Paul Kanjorski’s (D) re-election bid. Kanjorski, who is in a competitive race against Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta (R), has benefited from $888,900 in funds spent on his behalf by the Realtors this cycle.
