West Virginia: Rockefeller Hosts Event for Capito Challenger

As part of her swing through Washington, D.C., this week, Democratic nominee Anne Barth was scheduled to hold a campaign fundraiser at the home of Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D) Wednesday night.

Barth, a former top aide to Sen. Robert Byrd (D), has been highly touted by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as she works to unseat four-term Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R) in the 2nd district.

Byrd, who despite his continued health problems has been relatively active in Barth’s campaign, was scheduled to be on hand Wednesday night for the fundraiser.

With the fundraising quarter officially ending Tuesday, Barth said Wednesday that her campaign expects to report a minimum of $330,000 raised between July and September. In fundraising for the entire cycle, Barth said she expects to surpass the $1 million mark this week.
