Schmidt Releases Poll to Counter Wulsin’s

Hours after her opponent released a poll Thursday showing a very tight race, Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio) released her own survey showing that she had a double-digit lead.

The Tarrance Group (R) poll showed Schmidt with 52 percent, physician Victoria Wulsin (D) with 36 percent, businessman David Krikorian (I) with 6 percent and 6 percent undecided.

According to a release from Schmidt’s campaign, the survey polled 400 likely voters on Sept. 8-9 and had a margin of error of 4.9 points.

Wulsin released her own campaign poll earlier Thursday that showed her trailing Schmidt by just 1 point, 37 percent to 36 percent. That poll was taken more recently, Sept. 29-30.

“Ms. Wulsin’s campaign is running out of steam, she has received minimal support from national Democrats, she has pulled two weeks of her television ads, and now she is touting a poll that doesn’t match any realistic result,” Schmidt spokesman Bruce Pfaff said.

This is the second time that Wulsin has challenged Schmidt. She lost to the Congresswoman by about 2,500 votes in 2006.
