Charges of Second Mahoney Affair

Rep. Tim Mahoney (D-Fla.) is facing a fresh round of allegations Wednesday morning that he engaged in a second extramarital affair while in a relationship with a former staffer, according to the Associated Press.

According to the report, which cites an unnamed source close to his campaign, Mahoney was engaging in the two relationships at the same time. The freshman Congressman already faced charges of allegedly having an affair with one of his former aides and then later paying her to stay quiet.

The AP added to the accusations with its news account Tuesday. The news account cites a source claiming Mahoney also was involved with a “high-ranking official in Martin County.”

Mahoney has not directly addressed the accusations of an affair, but denied misusing any campaign money. He said “no marriage is perfect” and has called for the House ethics committee to investigate any wrongdoing.
