Democratic Party Music Is Cheerful

At the DSCC/DCCC victory party at the Hyatt on New Jersey Avenue Northwest, excited crowds packed the ballroom, hallways and hotel bar celebrating the returns.

In contrast to music at other parties, the disc jockey began playing Queen’s classic “We Are the Champions” at 9:27 p.m., around the time most news sites projected Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) would take Ohio’s electoral votes. Another tune played over the stereo? Rihanna’s “Please Don’t Stop the Music.”
