Emanuel Says He’s Still Mulling

House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel (Ill.) was still making up his mind Wednesday night as to whether he will accept an offer to serve as chief of staff to President-elect Obama.

“I’m honored. I appreciate all this. I have a lot to weigh,” Emanuel told WLS-TV, the ABC News Chicago affiliate. “The basis of public service, which I have given my life to, a career choice. But most importantly, what I want to do … as a parent.”

Emanuel is a key member of the House Democratic leadership and is regarded as a likely future Speaker of the House if he were to continue his Congressional career.
