Pelosi Readies Lawmakers for Lame Duck

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told lawmakers Tuesday to prepare to return to Washington next week for a lame-duck session, but House leaders have yet to decide whether the session will actually happen. In a “Dear Colleague” letter, Pelosi notified Members, “of the possibility that the House may be in session during the week of December 8th.” The letter conforms to House rules that require three days’ notice of an upcoming session. Members will be formally notified later this week on whether they will need to come to Washington to take up a multibillion-dollar auto industry rescue package.
