Bachus’ Top Panel Slot in Peril

The Republican Steering Committee is expected Wednesday to take a vote of no confidence in Rep. Spencer Bachus’ ability to continue serving as the ranking Republican on the Financial Services Committee in the 111th Congress. The move ends weeks of speculation that the Alabama Republican would be removed from the panel following his inconsistent leadership during the $700 billion bailout of ailing financial institutions in October.
