Davis: Blagojevich Bound for Reality TV or Jail

Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.) on Tuesday weighed in on the fate of impeached Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D), a longtime colleague from his home state who was ousted last week by the state legislature for alleged abuse of power.

“Oh, the tapes are just terrible,” Davis said, referring to explicative-laced transcripts of federal wiretaps that recorded Blagojevich attempting to exact personal and political gain in exchange for his appointment to President Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat.

But the Chicago Democrat said people who have worked with Blagojevich over the years have heard him “talk that way lots of times [and] you don’t necessarily believe it.” Davis said Blagojevich “is just that way.”

“If you talk to Rod for 10 minutes, eight of those 10 minutes are B.S.,” he added.

Davis half-jokingly said the next stint for the disgraced former governor may be as a talk show host or a participant on a reality show since “he is an entertainer.”

However, asked if he thinks the most likely next role for Blagojevich will be in prison, Davis replied, “I suspect so.”
