Locke Is Likely Commerce Pick

Former Washington Gov. Gary Locke (D) is President Barack Obama’s likely pick for Commerce secretary, a White House official said today. Locke was the nation’s first Chinese-American governor. The official was not clear about when the announcement will be made. Locke would be Obama’s third choice for the post. Two previous nominees — New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D) and Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) — both withdrew their nominations.
