2008 Foe Takes Another Swing at South Carolina GOP Rep. Wilson

It looks like there will be a rematch of the competitive 2008 House race in South Carolina’s 2nd District: Democrat Rob Miller announced Wednesday that he will make another attempt to unseat Republican Rep. Joe Wilson , whom he held to a modest 54 percent to 46 percent win in the strongly Republican-leaning central and south district.

“For too long, Congressman Wilson has been part of the problem in Washington,” Miller said in a written statement. “Instead of saying ‘no’ to creating good jobs in South Carolina, we need to invest in our future. In Congress, I will fight for policies that create jobs, support small businesses, and rein in out-of-control spending.”

As that statement implies, Miller is prepared to run on a platform that strikes a middle ground between President Obama’s economic agenda and the staunch Republican opposition in which Wilson has participated.
