RNC Raised $5.7 Million in April

The Republican National Committee announced Friday that it raised $5.7 million in April, a solid if not outstanding total for the month. The committee reported that $5.4 million of its total receipts came from donations (as opposed to transfers from other fundraising committees).

The RNC’s April fundraising haul marks a drop from the previous month, when it raised $6.7 million, and is also down from the comparable period in March 2007, when the committee brought in $7.4 million.

The committee, however, continues to maintain a solid war chest for this early in the election cycle, boasting $24.3 million cash-on-hand and no debt. Their counterpart, the Democratic National Commitee, have not released their monthly fundraising totals yet, but at the end of March the DNC reported far less in the bank — $9.8 million — and had $6.7 million in debt.

The party committee’s fundraising reports for April are due with the Federal Election Commission by midnight on May 20.
