Many Democrats have begun campaigning for the Democratic-leaning seat currently held by Rep. Ellen O. Tauscher, but on Wednesday, a Republican entered the fray.

Attorney David Harmer, who once ran for Congress in Utah, announced Wednesday his campaign for California’s 10th District.

“Now more than ever, we need Congress to practice prudent fiscal management,” Harmer said in a statement. “Instead, Congress is mortgaging our children’s future with trillions of dollars in new debt. It’s the opposite of the American dream. We’re living beyond our means and leaving the bill for our kids.”
