Whitman’s in the Money in Calif. Governor’s Race

With a little help from $19 million in personal funds, Republican Meg Whitman, former CEO of eBay, dominated the most recent fundraising period for California’s 2010 governor’s race, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The fundraising reports, due July 31, indicate that Whitman raised an additional $6.8 million through June.

Whitman far outpaces potential competitors on the fundraising front, according to figures from the Mercury News:

**Meg Whitman (R)** former CEO of eBay: **$25.8 million** including $19 million in personal funds

**Steve Poizner (R)** state insurance commissioner: **$4.6 million** including $3.7 million in personal funds
