Insurance Industry Huddles With Finance Committee

A day after America’s Health Insurance Plans released a scathing report on provisions in the Senate Finance Committee’s health care legislation, top Finance staffers met Tuesday afternoon with representatives from the insurance industry trade group and PricewaterhouseCoopers, according to sources familiar with the meeting.

The groups gathered to discuss the findings of the report, which said premiums for American families would skyrocket. The AHIP is opposed to provisions in the bill, which passed out of committee Tuesday on a 14-9 vote, that take away the individual mandate and tax high-cost plans.

A Senate Finance Committee spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
