Former President Bill Clinton endorsed Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley’s Senate bid on Sunday and recorded a robocall on her behalf less than 48 hours before the primary election.The call will go out Monday to more than 500,000 primary voters across the Commonwealth. In the message, Clinton reminds residents to vote Tuesday and asks them to vote for Coakley, saying she will “fight every day to create jobs with good benefits and health reform with a strong public option.—Coakley is the favorite to win the Democratic primary in the special election, which will determine who fills the seat vacated by the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D). Sen. Paul Kirk (D) is currently serving an interim appointment.However, Coakley’s male opponents, including Rep. Mike Capuano and community service organizer Alan Khazei, have been the ones rolling out the big endorsements — including the major newspapers — over the past week.Turnout is expected to be light on Election Day.The winner of the Democratic primary is the heavy favorite to win the Jan. 19 general contest against likely Republican nominee state Sen. Scott Brown.
