Looks like Suffolk County Legislator Jon Cooper (D) is finally going to make an announcement about his political intentions next week.

Cooper issued a statement Friday that he will hold a press conference Monday to announce his decision on a Senate run in New York. He has been exploring a primary challenge to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) for six months, and initially said he would announce before Thanksgiving.

City Hall Daily reported Wednesday that party officials are hoping to lure Cooper into a state Senate race, instead.
