Murtha Returns for Defense Bill Debate After Hospital Stay

Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) was released from the hospital Wednesday morning and will be back in the House on Wednesday afternoon to present the Defense spending bill, according to his spokesman.

Murtha, 77, was admitted to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., on Sunday night with abdominal pain, which doctors later said was related to his gall bladder.

His absence led to the cancellation of a scheduled Tuesday hearing on funding for the war in Afghanistan, with planned testimony from Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
