California GOP Rep. Radanovich Not Seeking Re-election

Rep. George Radanovich (R-Calif.) announced Tuesday that he will not seek re-election in 2010 in the state’s Central Valley-based 19th district.

Radanovich, a conservative who is serving his eighth term, said in a statement that he wanted to put family obligations ahead of his political career. Radanovich’s wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer about three years ago.

Radanovich said that he and his wife “have had deep and often emotional conversations giving thanks for our many blessings and setting our priorities as a couple and as parents. It was during these sessions that it became clear to me that the time has come for me to place my family first and my public service career second.”
