Herron Banks $675K In Big-Money Tennessee Race

If Tennessee state Sen. Roy Herron (D) doesn’t win the 8th district seat currently held by retiring Rep. John Tanner (D), it won’t be because Herron’s campaign didn’t have the funds to wage a competitive campaign.

Herron’s campaign on Monday reported raising $675,000 for his congressional bid in this year’s fourth quarter, of which $250,000 came from the candidate himself in the form of a loan.

Herron’s campaign released top-line figures only, and so it wasn’t immediately clear how the other $425,000 broke down among individual donors, political party committees and political action committees. Detailed campaign reports are due Jan. 31 to the Federal Election Commission.
