Lugar Backs Dold in Illinois

Businessman Bob Dold (R) announced Monday that Sen. Dick Lugar (R-Ind.) has endorsed him in the competitive Feb. 2 primary for Rep. Mark Kirk’s (R-Ill.) seat.Not only is this Dold’s second Congressional endorsement in a week, but it’s also his second from an Indiana Republican. Dold’s old boss, former Vice President Dan Quayle, endorsed him last week. Kirk is running for Senate, and several Republicans and Democrats are seeking his seat in the Feb. 2 primary. Businessman Dick Green is running in the GOP primary, along with state Rep. Beth Coulson, who boasts endorsements from most of the Illinois Congressional delegation. Marketing consultant Dan Seals, the 2006 and 2008 nominee, and state Rep. Julie Hamos are running for the Democratic nomination.
