Club for Growth Encourages Pence Senate Bid

The conservative Club for Growth is urging Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) to challenge Sen. Evan Bayh (D).“Mike Pence is the kind of pro-growth hero that the Senate and the nation need right now,— said Club president Chris Chocola, a former Indiana Republican Congressman who served with Pence for four years.Many conservative activists have intensified their Pence-for-Senate lobbying following Sen.-elect Scott Brown’s (R) victory Tuesday in a Massachusetts special Senate election.Brown’s election “confirms that Indiana is a winnable race for a principled advocate of economic freedom and limited government,— Chocola said.Pence has declined comment about a potential Senate bid but was set to meet Thursday with the National Republican Senatorial Committee.Four Republicans are seeking the Senate nomination in the May 4 primary. The filing deadline is Feb. 19.
