Cheney: Palin, Other GOP Contenders Have Much Work to Do

Former Vice President Dick Cheney equivocated Sunday when asked if Sarah Palin, the ex-Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, is qualified to be president.

When asked the question on ABC’s “This Week,” Cheney said he hasn’t made a decision on whom he’s “going to support for president next time around.”

“Whoever it is is going to have to prove themselves capable of being president of the United States. And those tests will come during the course of campaigns, obviously,” Cheney said. “I think all of the prospective candidates out there have got a lot of work to do if in fact they’re going to persuade a majority of Americans that they’re ready to take on the world’s toughest job.”

Palin said in a recent interview that she has not ruled out running for president in 2012.
