Suspicious Package Creates Temporary Closure of House Entrance to Capitol

Updated: March 23, 10:31 a.m.

Capitol Police briefly blocked off the House entrance to the Capitol Tuesday morning because of a suspicious package.

The package was reported shortly before 10 a.m., but police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider said at the time, “We’ve been on scene investigating for about 10 minutes,” but added that there were no evacuations.

Capitol Police issued an all-clear at about 10:30 a.m.
