California: Fiorina, Campbell End Quarter Neck-and-Neck

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Republican primary rival Tom Campbell had almost identical first-quarter fundraising for their Senate campaigns.

Fiorina pulled in $1.7 million during the first three months of the year, while the campaign of Campbell, a former Congressman, took in $1.63 million.

Fiorina loaned her campaign $2.5 million in the fall and is capable of additional self-funding.

The other candidate in that primary, state Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, said his first-quarter contributions totaled $625,000.

They are competing to take on Sen. Barbara Boxer (D) in the fall.

Boxer’s campaign announced that it raised $2.4 million in the first quarter.
