Rep. Mark Souder is a fan of abstinence, but apparently, not for himself. Capitol Hill was entertaining itself Tuesday morning with a video that the Indiana Republican produced in which he and the staffer with whom he reportedly had an affair discuss abstinence.
The video is a faux talk-show interview in which Tracy Jackson, whom Fox News is identifying as the Souder staffer with whom the married Congressman had an affair, plays reporter, interviewing her boss about a hearing organized by Democrats that was apparently critical of educational programs that focus only on abstinence as a means of preventing sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy among young people. During the interview, Souder boasts of his role as a champion of abstaining, while Jackson murmurs her agreement and throws him softball questions.
Interestingly, Souder also sounds like a critic of condoms as a means of preventing AIDS (and HOH just might entertain herself later by counting the number of times that he uses the word “condom”), criticizing an AIDS patient for not realizing that “the only way not to get AIDS is not to have sex with a partner you don’t know their background.”
