Reid Moves to End Debate on War Supplemental

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) filed a procedural motion Tuesday evening to end debate on a $60 billion war supplemental bill, putting the measure on a path to final passage later this week.

Senate Democrats want to complete the war supplemental — which also includes funding for flood recovery, Haiti and the Gulf Coast — before adjourning Friday for the weeklong Memorial Day break. They also hope to pass a broad package of tax extenders and unemployment benefits, although the House must pass that measure first.
