Updated: 3:49 p.m.

Vice President Joseph Biden will travel to the Gulf Coast on Tuesday for an update on the BP oil spill cleanup, the White House announced Friday. The trip marks his first visit to the region since the oil spill began two months ago.

Biden will visit the National Incident Command Center in New Orleans and also the Florida Panhandle. President Barack Obama has visited the region four times since the spill began on April 20 following an explosion on a BP oil rig.
