HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Help for We, the Hungry

After months of speculation, it appears that Capitol Hill’s resident celebrity chef, Spike Mendelsohn, is finally ready to open his much-anticipated pizza place, We, the Pizza.

DCist reported Tuesday that the New York-style pizzeria’s public opening will take place July 12.

Situated next to Mendelsohn’s popular Pennsylvania Avenue burger joint, Good Stuff Eatery, the new Hill restaurant will dish up pizza made with regional ingredients alongside Italian sandwiches and homemade gelato.

And HOH hears Mendelsohn and Chef Michael Colletti are hosting an exclusive invite-only opening party for the pizzeria July 7, featuring tunes spun by DJ Josh Madden (brother to Maryland natives Joel and Benji Madden, members of the band Good Charlotte) and an appearance by the U.S. Pizza Team.

Alison McSherry contributed to this report.
