HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Celebratory Dinner?

What does one do after enduring three straight days of intense Supreme Court confirmation hearings? Go out to dinner.

HOH hears Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan dined at downtown restaurant Equinox on Wednesday night. The solicitor general sat at a quiet table situated away from other diners, an HOH spy says, noting that Kagan looked to be having “a very nice low-key dinner with friends.”

No word on whether the group discussed Kagan’s position on the ongoing Edward-vs.-Jacob debate.

A Top Chef Visits Capitol Hill

On Wednesday night’s episode of “Top Chef D.C.,” contestants competed to serve up the tastiest dish at a barbecue for Capitol Hill interns (although HOH notes the segment was filmed at Mount Vernon in Alexandra, Va., and the interns who took part appeared to be a little older than most Hill interns and much better dressed).

Today, “Top Chef” judge Tom Colicchio is expected to come to Capitol Hill, where he is scheduled to appear at a House Education and Labor Committee hearing to testify about child nutrition issues. Colicchio has long championed the issue, and on last week’s “Top Chef” episode, contestants competed to create a healthy yet affordable dish that can be served in public schools.

White House Assistant Chef Sam Kass served as a guest judge for that episode.
