Obama Lunches With Senators From Class of 2006

President Barack Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden met with five Democratic Senators on Wednesday during a lunch that wasn’t scheduled with any particular agenda, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Wednesday.

All five lawmakers — Sens. Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.), Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Bob Casey (Pa.) and Claire McCaskill (Mich.) — are from the class of 2006. They are all also known for pressing Obama and party leaders to make efforts to show stronger contrasts between Democrats and Republicans.

“The president has had Senators over here, met with committee chairs fairly regularly when taking office, and this is just a continuation of that,” Gibbs said of the lunch, during a briefing.
