HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Night Shift
Sen. Chris Dodd and Rep. Judy Biggert don’t often work together — but as the pair recalled Wednesday, they were up all night the last time they were together.
Now, now, get your mind out of the gutter, dear HOH readers. Turns out the Connecticut Democrat and the Illinois Republican merely stayed up late to work on financial reform with the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.
“We had an all-nighter with [Rep.] Barney Frank,” Dodd joked.
Dodd and Biggert recalled their past rendezvous at the premiere of Alexandra Pelosi’s new documentary, “Homeless: The Motel Kids of Orange County,” at the National Press Club on Wednesday evening. Airing Monday on HBO, the documentary (warning: it’s a tearjerker) follows a group of youngsters whose families live in discounted motels just blocks from Disneyland in Orange County, Calif.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) — who, of course, is the mother of the filmmaker — attended the screening. HOH also spotted Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.), Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) and Ed Markey (D-Mass.) in the audience.
Kennedy family member Mark Shriver introduced the film on behalf of the group Save the Children, noting that films such as “An Inconvenient Truth,” the Al Gore environmental flick, show the power the silver screen can have in highlighting societal problems.
“Of course, there’s a whole generation of monogamous men after watching Fatal Attraction,'” Shriver joked.
