Hawaii: Internal Polling Finds Incumbent Djou Ahead

Republican Rep. Charles Djou goes into the general election in a strong position, according to an internal poll the campaign released Monday.

The poll, conducted for the campaign by the Tarrance Group, showed Djou favored 50 percent to 42 percent over state Senate President Colleen Hanabusa (D).

The survey of 400 likely voters was conducted July 26-27 and had a 4.9-point margin of error.

Hanabusa was among the candidates Djou defeated in the May special election to replace former Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D), who resigned to run for governor.
