[IMGCAP(1)] The July 1, 1961, launching of the USS Leahy (named for Fleet Adm. William Daniel Leahy) brought to Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine, (from left) then-Rep. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), Sen. Lee Metcalf (D-Mont.), Sen. Mike Mansfield (D-Mont.), Maureen Mansfield, Sen. Ed Muskie (D-Maine) and Rep. Stan Tupper (R-Maine). The ship was decommissioned in 1993 and sold for scrap metal.
