Harris Tops Kratovil in Pre-Primary Fundraising
Maryland state Sen. Andy Harris (R) outraised Rep. Frank Kratovil (D) by about $38,000 for the fundraising period covering July 1 to Aug. 25, according to pre-primary reports filed on Thursday.
Harris raised $172,000 (and loaned himself another $20,000) during the nearly two-month period. The Congressman raised about $134,000 in that time.
After spending about $146,000 during the pre-primary period (including about $49,000 to film a yet to be released ad) Harris had $944,000 in the bank on Aug 25. Kratovil spent $112,000 (including $22,500 on an early July poll) and ended the fundraising period with more than $1.3 million in the bank.
But before he can completely focus on Kratovil, Harris has to win the GOP primary against IT consultant Rob Fisher, who has positioned himself as the outsider to the state Senator. Nearly all of Fisher’s $60,000 in receipts during the pre-primary period came from a personal loan. Fisher has now loaned his campaign $475,000 and had $80,000 on hand with three weeks to go before the Sept. 14 primary.
