House Gallery Evacuated After White Powder Discovered

The House Gallery was evacuated around noon after a suspicious white powder was found on the floor of the room in the Capitol.

The substance was not hazardous, according to Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, spokeswoman for the Capitol Police.

The Capitol Police conducted tests, but only the rooms adjacent to the gallery were restricted. The Capitol remains open.

Schneider said there were only a few pages in the room at the time of the discovery.
