Man Released After Tossing Book Near President

An author hoping to show his work to President Barack Obama was questioned and released after tossing a book near the president during a campaign rally Sunday in Philadelphia, the Associated Press reported Monday, citing the Secret Service.

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said agents concluded the man posed no danger. Obama had finished his speech on the outdoor stage when the paperback landed near him. He did not appear to notice it.

Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden were in Philadelphia for a rally held by the Democratic National Committee to motivate voters.
