A bipartisan group of House lawmakers appealed to President Barack Obama on Thursday to withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan.

Ten House Members signed a letter urging Obama to expand his review of military tactics in Afghanistan to include an assessment of whether it is in the United States’ best interests to stay in the nation. The report will be released Friday at a NATO meeting in Lisbon, Portugal.

“We have grave concerns that the current course in Afghanistan is compromising our national security interests and is unsustainable even in the short term,” reads the letter. The lawmakers call on Obama to address in his report “the fundamental question” of whether “the price our nation is paying for this war [is] truly in the national security interest of the United States.”

The signatories are Democratic Reps. Jim McGovern (Mass.), Barbara Lee (Calif.), Lynn Woolsey (Calif.), Mike Honda (Calif.), John Conyers (Mich.) and Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), and Republican Reps. Walter Jones Jr. (N.C.), Ron Paul (Texas), John Duncan (Tenn.) and Timothy Johnson (Ill.).
