House Majority Whip James Clyburn will lead a 12-Member Congressional delegation to Haiti observe national elections Sunday.

The South Carolina Democrat and the other lawmakers, predominantly members of the Congressional Black Caucus, want to help ensure that polling on the island nation “is fair and successful,” according to a statement issued by Clyburn’s office Wednesday. Haiti suffered a devastating earthquake in January.

The CODEL will arrive in Port-au-Prince on Sunday morning and depart that evening after receiving briefings from U.S. and international officials, visiting voting sites and meeting with representatives of the Haitian government and local nongovernmental organizations.

Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (Neb.) is the lone Republican traveling with Clyburn. Also on the trip will be CBC Chairwoman Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and Democratic Reps. John Conyers (Mich.), Emanuel Cleaver (Mo.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Marcia Fudge (Ohio), Eddie Bernice Johnson (Texas), Corrine Brown (Fla.), Laura Richardson (Calif.) and Hank Johnson (Ga), as well as Del. Donna Christensen (D-Virgin Islands).
