Sen. Mark Udall is aiming to set the tone for the rest of the lame-duck session.

The Colorado Democrat wants the Senate to stay in Washington as long as it takes to finish work on several pieces of legislation. To get his point across, Udall is doing what a lot of teenagers do when they want to express their feelings: He’s putting together a playlist.

“As Elvis would say, we need a little less conversation, and a little more action,” the Senator writes in a blog entry posted on his official website. “But sometimes you need to think creatively to bridge the divide in the Senate — and nothing sends a message better than music.”

But Udall isn’t putting together the playlist by himself. He took to Twitter on Tuesday to ask his followers to send in song suggestions, asking them to pick tunes about “working” and “getting along” with the hash tag “#song4Congress.” He’ll pick his favorites to create the final list.

The Senator has already picked “Come Together” by the Beatles for the playlist, and followers suggested a range of songs, including “Takin’ Care of Business” by Bachman-Turner Overdrive, “Uprising” by Muse, “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” by Simon and Garfunkel and “She Works Hard for the Money” by Donna Summer.
