Senate Moves Toward Final Passage of CR

The Senate on Tuesday agreed 82-14 to end debate on a three-month continuing resolution to fund the government and was expected to send the measure to the House within hours.

The current CR is set to expire Tuesday at midnight. The House is expected later in the day to follow the Senate in passing the new CR, which expires March 4.

After Senators give the final nod to the CR, they will move toward completion of the new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. Foreign Relations Chairman John Kerry (D-Mass.) was working on a deal with Republicans to expedite the treaty’s ratification. The agreement could allow for a final vote Wednesday.
