Democrats Murphy, Vogel Announce Details of New Firm

Democratic consultants Steve Murphy and Jon Vogel announced Tuesday their creation of “a new full-service political media firm.”

They are joining forces with Kathi Askew and Michael Reilly, who previously worked with Murphy at Murphy Putnam Media, to form Murphy Vogel Askew Reilly.

Along with producing TV and radio ads, the Alexandria, Va.-based firm is looking to “develop integrated communication plans that layer electronic, earned and new media to deliver a clear and credible message to voters,” according to a press release.

“We are going to produce ads that clearly demonstrate to skeptical voters that it’s the Democrats who are on their side,” said Murphy, who has been involved in Democratic politics since 1976.

“Working with Steve Murphy and his team during my time at the DCCC, they demonstrated that winning is their top priority,” said Vogel, the former executive director at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Murphy and Mark Putnam closed Murphy Putnam Media last month after 13 years. Putnam is also opening a new shop with former firm employees Philip de Vellis and Jim Duffy.
