As House Democrats get ready for the first big spending fight of the 112th Congress, they are inviting several budget experts to Wednesday’s Caucus meeting.

House Budget ranking member Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.); Stan Collender, a partner at Qorvis Communications and a Roll Call contributing writer; and Robert Greenstein, founder and executive director of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, are slated to speak at the meeting, according to Democratic aides.

Jacob Lew, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, is also expected to attend, although he is not on the official agenda, aides confirmed.

House Republicans are expected to bring a continuing resolution to the floor next week to fund the government for the remainder of fiscal 2011. The current continuing resolution expires March 4. Meanwhile, President Barack Obama’s fiscal 2012 budget request is scheduled for release Feb. 14.
