Allen Uses Adorable Babies in First Mailer

Senate candidate George Allen reached out to social conservatives last week in his first piece of direct mail in Virginia.

The mailer cited endorsements by state conservatives and reminded voters — with pictures of smiling babies and text — that Allen signed a parental notification bill as governor that required doctors to inform parents before performing an abortion on a minor.

“As Governor and Senator, George Allen has a proven record of standing up for our families and unborn children,” the mailer states, citing his co-sponsorship of the ban on partial birth abortion.

Democratic sources noted that the mailer proves Allen is concerned about a primary challenge from the right. The mailer was first reported by conservative political blog Bearing Drift.
