Mike Lee Opens Conservative PAC

Sen. Mike Lee has opened a leadership political action committee intended to fund conservative Republican Congressional candidates.

The freshman Utah Republican — among the three leaders of the Senate Tea Party Caucus — is calling his new political action committee Lead, Elect, Encourage, or LEE PAC.

Lee has already waded into a few GOP Senate primaries, endorsing Rep. Jeff Flake in Arizona and former Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz in the Lone Star State.

Lee coasted to victory in last November’s midterm elections after helping to oust then-Sen. Bob Bennett earlier in 2010 during a vote of Utah Republican Party convention delegates.

In 2012, the same anti-establishment Republican activist base that targeted Bennett has its sights set on Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah).

Lee has pledged to remain neutral in Hatch’s primary.
