Obama to Begin Official 2012 Fundraising Drive

President Barack Obama tonight will speak to supporters in Chicago at the official fundraising kickoff of his 2012 re-election bid.

The 7 p.m. event will be held in the Grand Ballroom at Chicago’s Navy Pier.

A campaign source confirmed a National Journal report that before the event at the pier, there will be two “big-ticket” fundraisers at Chicago restaurants and one “Gen44” event geared toward younger supporters with a lower cost.

Some of the program details are still being worked out, but Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls is expected to attend.

The campaign source told Roll Call there is a range of ticket prices for the pier event, starting with a $100 donation.
