DNC Raised $12.4 Million in April

The Democratic National Committee will report raising $12.4 million in April, according to a DNC official.

That’s about twice as much as the Republican National Committee’s $6 million haul last month. The RNC paid down $1 million in debt and kept $5 million in the bank, leaving it about $19 million still in debt.

The DNC has about three times as much cash on hand, with $14.8 million as of the end of April, but it also has $15.4 million in debt. The DNC continues to be aided by the Obama Victory Fund, which is a joint fundraising account between the DNC and President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.
